Main Duties

  • Carry out steel and consumables purchasing tasks
  • Produce forecasts and monitor stock levels for an allocated product range
  • Place orders, progress and chase deliveries with suppliers, port agents and hauliers
  • Ensure all required data is input accurately and promptly onto the stock database
  • Source specialist suppliers and negotiate prices within defined company guidelines
  • Work closely with inter-company departments, i.e. sales, finance and works, to achieve targets in QA and customer service
  • Assist with implementing new procedures and processes to improve product supply and management of all purchasing tasks
  • Provide goods inwards support and cover stock-takes
  • Carry out general purchasing administration duties
  • Liaise with Line Manager to resolve complex queries/discrepancies, to achieve an effective, timely resolution.

Other Duties

  • Carry out any other duties and responsibilities within your capabilities, as directed by your Line Manager
  • Participate in an apprenticeship program and attend relevant meetings and training events as required, with a view to continually improving own performance
  • Ensure own health and safety and that of other employees is not put at risk by your actions
  • Follow company policies and procedures, protecting the company’s interest at all times

  • Salary: £219.80 - £275.20 weekly wage
