As an Apprentice IT Support Engineer you will provide effective IT assistance across all aspects of the business. The position is responsible for supporting and maintaining the Microsoft Server and Desktop operating systems plus general maintenance of all IT related hardware/software. The position provides exposure to a broad range of IT-related projects and activities.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide end to end support to the business
  • Ensuring cost effective delivery of high-quality services
  • Receive and handle requests for support following agreed procedures
  • Ensure that service requests and incidents from end users are complete, contacting users and requesting any missing information if required
  • Manage the administration of user Ids and passwords as authorised by management
  • Contributes to knowledge management systems under general supervision
  • Identify and manage performance activities for the service desk to improve operational effectiveness and cost savings
  • Work under general supervision, escalating high severity issues to your supervisor
  • Understand and consistently determine when issues should be escalated to a higher level
  • Ability to work well independently as well as in a team
  • Identify problems early and use own discretion and initiative to resolve problems, having obtained direction
  • Inspire confidence in supervisors, minimising the need to monitor work
  • Be able to continue to work effectively under pressure
  • Work rotas including evenings and weekends
  • Contribute to the on-call rota and out of hours support
