An Overview with Daniel Akrigg
The Level 2 Diploma in Culinary Skills is a full-time programme, combining practical work with related theory in food preparation and cooking.
Our professional kitchens have industry-standard Rational ovens, state-of-the-art thermo mixers and sous vide water baths, providing the opportunity to hone modernist cooking techniques.
On successful completion of the programme, you will go on to a guaranteed apprenticeship. We will help match you to an employer that relfects your career ambitions and culinary style.

Meet the Team
Aiden Byrne – Chef Patron
Aiden Byrne is an experienced chef having worked in some of the finest kitchens across the UK and beyond. He was the youngest chef to ever receive a Michelin star at the age of 22 years at Adlards in Nortwich.
He is also a familiar face on TV culinary programmes including Masterchef, Saturday Kitchen, Sunday Brunch and the Great British Menu.
Aiden owns The Church Green in Lymm, Cheshire and runs a number masterclasses to eduate and inform our students about the business. Students also have the opportunity to visit Aiden in his restaurant.
Daniel Akrigg – Lecturer in Hospitality
Daniel is a Professional Chef and Lecturer with over ten years’ experience in the catering industry.
He has worked in some of the country’s best restaurants including Rogans and Co, The French at The Midland, Glen Eagles and Eipic in Belfast.
He was named Cumbria Young Chef of the Year 2013, North West Young Chef of the Year 2013 and was third in the National Young Chef of the Year competition aged 17.
Daniel has also presented live cooking demonstrations at prestigious events alongside TV chef James Martin.
His passion, attitude and understanding of current industry trends and practices, combined with a demand for high standards enables him to deliver high level content that give the Whites Academy learners the best opportunity to develop essential skills needed to work at the highest level in the industry.
