The aim of this qualification is to enhance the skills developed in the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. You’ll look at professional accountancy and finance skills, including financial statements for limited companies, management accounting techniques, personal and business taxation.
You will need to have achieved the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge.
On receipt of your application to study this course you will be invited to attend an admissions interview with a member of the teaching team to discuss the course and its requirements in more depth to ensure the course is right for you.
During this course, you will study five mandatory units:
1 - Financial Accounting
2 - Management Accounting
3 - Audit and Internal Controls
4 - Principles of Taxation
5 - Advanced Business Awareness
All units are assessed by externally marked computer-based assessments. Learners must achieve a minimum of 70% in all assessments to achieve the qualification.

On successful completion of this course you will be entitled to exemptions from some units if you wish to go on to complete a chartered qualification such as ACCA or CIMA.

This course runs over 15 months, starting on 18th November 2026. You will be required to attend on Wednesdays from 9:15am to 3:30pm during term time.
Due to the AAT being a professional awarding body, you will need to register with the AAT and pay a registration fee of £258 directly to the AAT within 4 weeks of joining the course.
You will also need to purchase text books that cost approximately £150 in total. You will be provided with a book list during the first week of the course.
