College Life
The course meets the needs of candidates who want to work in the hair or beauty sector it allows them to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the hairdressing sector.
Candidates will need to have at least 3 GCSE’s 2 - 9.
You will be required to purchase a uniform and a hairdressing kit, cost will be advised at interview.
During the course, you will have an introduction to the Hairdressing sector, learn about the importance of presenting a professional image, working to health and safety policies. You will additionally learn basic hair applications, including shampooing and conditioning, styling and dressing hair using a variety of techniques and also basic colouring applications. You will work on other colleagues within the group, clients and on block heads to practice your skills, develop confidence and technique and support stylists in the commercial salons.
You will also work to improve your current level of English and Maths within your sessions and attend additional taught sessions.
You will be assessed by a range of methods including practical observation, assignments, tasks and external online exams.

Successful completion of the course can lead to progression onto Level 2 Hairdressing / Beauty therapy / Media make-up or an apprenticeship within the industry.
