Excel for the Intermediate is the ideal next step for learners who have completed Excel Made Easy or who already feel comfortable with the basics. This supportive, confidence building course introduces more powerful tools in Excel, helping learners work smarter, organise information effectively, and create spreadsheets that look professional and purposeful.
The course continues at a gentle, friendly pace, using clear explanations and real life examples that make each skill easy to understand and apply.
Ideally, learners will have completed the Excel Made Easy course or have some basic knowledge of Excel, such as entering data, saving files, and performing simple edits. No advanced skills are required — just confidence with the basics and a willingness to build on them.
Session 1: Working Smarter with Data
• Recapping the basics
• Understanding cell references (relative & absolute)
• Using AutoFill and Flash Fill
• Editing and improving existing spreadsheets
Session 2: Formulas & Functions
• Creating formulas with confidence
• Using common functions such as SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX
• Understanding how formulas update
• Troubleshooting common formula errors
Session 3: Making It Look Professional
• Formatting for clarity
• Using borders, shading, and number formats
• Sorting and filtering lists
• Creating simple charts
• Preparing your spreadsheet for printing
