Looking for the perfect combination of golf education and achieving your BTEC Diploma in Sport? This exciting programme is open to only 20 students for academic year 22/23 and will sit as part of our already highly successful sports academies.

Entry Requirements

For this course you will need to have achieved one of the following:

• A minimum of 5 GCSE’s Grade 4 or above, to include English Language or Maths.
• A Level 1 qualification (e.g. BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure)

A GCSE PE/Sports Studies qualification would also be advantageous and you will need to be able to demonstrate a reasonable degree of fitness.

On receipt of your application to study this course you will be invited to attend an admissions interview to discuss the course and its requirements further.


Course Content

Our golf academy is a structured sports programme, using the very latest technology in golf and sports performance. Rotating education, daily coaching and activities, makes this programme a comprehensive package of both golf performance and education. The programme will include coaching from professional golf association coaches, guest speakers and practical assessments to improve your game.

Assessment

Four units of the Pearson BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development are externally assessed by means of examinations and set tasks, six units assessed through project, experiments and assignment work. There are no external examinations. Each unit is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction and then an overall grade of Pass, Merit, Distinction or
Distinction* is awarded on completion.

GCSE qualifications are assessed through external examination and coursework.

Progression

On successful achievement of this course you may wish to:

* Apply to study a Higher Education course such as the BTEC Level 4 HNC or a Level 5 HND in Sport and Exercise Science, or a Sport related subject such as Gym Instruction, Leisure Management, Sports Coaching and Development or Teacher Training
* Seek employment within Sport/Leisure/Outdoor Activity Centres or Private Gyms


Additional Information

Additional help and support is available should you require it and you can discuss this further at your admissions interview.

You will have the opportunity to take part in educational and industrial visits and outdoor activities during your course. Possible visits may include Performance Analysis Centre, Specialist centres, courses and driving ranges. University and UCAS events but could be subject to change.
