This course will help enable the learner to develop knowledge and understanding of the importance of good health and the principles of a balanced diet and to apply best practice in the preparation, cooking and serving of dishes, to ensure that changes in nutritional value are minimised. There is also an emphasis in this unit on special diets including pescatarian and GF eating. Best practice in the preparation, cooking and serving is encouraged whilst developing an awareness of potential kitchen hazards.
This course is perfect for you to learn some recipes and techniques which will add some flair to your home cooking. If you're looking for something extra special to serve, this hands-on class under the guidance of one of our master chefs will look at restaurant standard healthy dishes.
This class is a combination of demonstration and hands-on practice working individually. At the end of the class, you will take home what you have made, so be sure to bring along a bag and containers to the lesson.
No prior knowledge is required for this course, which is suitable for both novices and cooks with some experience.
Content of our 3-hour practical classes include:
• How to create gnocchi and sauces
• How to cook using healthy cooking methods
• How to make pescatarian and GF dishes
The learner can:
• Identify different types of healthy cooking methods
• Prepare a variety of health foods
• Demonstrate use of the correct tools and equipment to prepare and cook healthy products
• Demonstrate safe and hygienic practices
