Introduction to CNC Routing Operations

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner will:

• Understand basic health and safety risks associated with the workshop and CNC routing machines,

• Be able to read basic engineering drawings,

• Conversion of file types to suit the CNC,

• CNC workflow, drawing, code, machine operation,

• An understanding of basic G and M codes and the use of G and M code in CNC work,

• Safety use a CNC routing machine,

• Use of different work holding and fixturing devices,

• Different tools and their uses,

• How to set up the CNC routing machine and tooling,

• Import the relevant information to conduct 2D, 2.5D and 3D components,

• Use of appropriate measuring equipment,

• Safely and accurately produce a range of engineering components using a CNC routing machine.
