This qualification is for you if you are a adult learner, who wishes to work as a plumber in the building services industry.
It has been designed to deliver a high level of occupational skills and provide a platform from which to progress through further learning or into employment. This vocational route at level 2 is a vital step towards becoming a competent plumber.
For this course you will need to have achieved the following:
· GCSE C or 4 and above in Maths and English or a willingness to work at this level.
On receipt of your application to study this course you will be invited to attend an admissions interview with a member of the teaching team to discuss the course and its requirements further.
The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the skills required within the plumbing sector. You will cover compulsory aspects such as:
• Hot Water
• Cold Water
• Sanitation
• Central Heating
• Health and safety and industry practices
• Plumbing process
• Electrical and scientific principles
Centres and providers work with local employers who will contribute to the knowledge and delivery of training. Employers will provide demonstrations and talks on the industry and where possible work placements will also be provided by the employers. This practically based training is ideal preparation for gaining employment in the plumbing industry or specialist further study.
To gain this qualification, candidates must successfully achieve the following assessments:
· One externally set, externally moderated assignment
· One externally set, externally marked exams, sat under examination conditions
GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications are assessed through external examination and portfolio work.

On successful achievement of this course you may wish to:
• Progress onto level 3 plumbing.
• Gain an apprenticeship in the industry.
This qualification is aimed at learners who are not yet employed in the plumbing industry but wish to learn the skills needed to progress further, including the level 3 qualification or help them embark on a plumbing apprenticeship programme.
