Overview

This qualification delivers the skills and essential knowledge to manage books effectively. It includes manual double entry bookkeeping, and associated documents and processes, up to Trial Balance standard. It is an ideal starting point for those wishing to pursue a career in Bookkeeping.

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required but a basic literacy and numeracy competence is essential.

On receipt of your application to study this course you will be invited to attend an admissions interview with a member of the teaching team to discuss the course and its requirements in more depth to ensure the course is right for you.

Content

The AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping covers a range of foundation bookkeeping skills in two mandatory units:

• Bookkeeping Transactions
• Bookkeeping Controls

Assessment

Both units are assessed individually in end-of-unit assessements.

Upon successful completion of this course, you may wish to apply to study AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting (Level 3)

Additional information

Additional help and support is available for you should you require it and this can be discussed at your admissions interview.

Due to the AAT being a professional awarding body, you will need to become a student member of the AAT and pay a membership fee of £48 directly to the AAT within 2 weeks of joining the course.

You will also need to purchase text books that are approximately £40. You will be provided with a book list during the first week of the course and be expected to buy these immediately.
