Overview

This qualification delivers the skills to make a start in using accounting software. It is an ideal starting point for those wishing to develop their employability skills, pursue further study with the AAT or those wishing to do their own bookkeeping.

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required but a basic literacy and numeracy competence is
essential.

On receipt of your application to study this course you will be invited to attend an admissions interview with a member of the teaching team to discuss the course and its requirements in more depth to ensure the course is right for you.

Content

The AAT Access Award in Accounting Software covers an introduction to the use of accounting software using SAGE.

Assessment

This qualification is assessed in an end-of-qualification computer-based assessment.

Progression

Upon successful completion of this course, you may wish to apply to study AAT Access Award in Bookkeeping – Level 1, AAT Access Award in Business Skills – Level 1, AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping – Level 2 or AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting – Level 2.

There are a number of possible jobs after completing this qualification:

• Trainee Bookkeeper
• Data Entry Clerk
• Accounts Administrator
• Invoice Entry Administrator
• Payments Administrator

Additional information

Due to the AAT being a professional awarding body, you will need to become a student member of the AAT and pay a membership fee of £48 directly to the AAT within 2 weeks of joining the course.

You will also need to purchase text books that are approximately £20. You will be provided with a book list during the first week of the course and be expected to buy these immediately.
