This qualification is intended to be accessible to a wide range of learners of all abilities.
Learners can develop a ‘hands-on’ approach to their learning and gain practical skills, knowledge and understanding in a chosen vocational area(s). The skills, knowledge and understanding gained may help learners prepare for work through real or simulated work situations and may contribute to preparing them for working life beyond education.
You will work in small groups and complete a range of practical and creative activities to help you get used to the College environment and the expectations of the academic level and criteria you will need to meet in order to progress further.
For this course you do not need to have achieved any formal qualifications.
On receipt of your application to study this course you will be invited to attend an admissions interview with a member of the teaching team to discuss the course and its requirements further.
During this course you will cover the following units:
A BTEC Level Entry 3 Certificate in Entry to Vocational Study that will provide you with an understanding of College life and the codes of conduct and behaviours expected of you by the organisation. This qualification will also provide a valuable insight to the level of study you will be expected to complete throughout your course.
You will study a range of skills that will prepare you for further study.
Alongside your main programme of study you will also study either GCSE or Functional Skills in English and Maths if you have not achieved a GCSE grade C or above.
You will be assessed through a variety of methods including project and practical assignment work.
Each unit is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction
On successful achievement of this course you may wish to:
• Apply to study a Level 1 qualification within Foundation Learning or a specific vocational area
• Progress to independent living or supported employment
• Apply for employment within a vocational industry
