The Level 3 Certificate in Women’s Hairdressing is an occupational qualification.
For this course you will need to have achieved the following
• Level 2 Diploma / Certificate in Women’s Hairdressing
This qualification is based on the national occupational standards for a variety of advanced hairdressing techniques and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a senior hairdresser/stylist. You must achieve all mandatory and optional units which include:
• Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
• Hairdressing consultation support for colleagues
• Cut women’s hair to create a variety of looks
• Style and dress hair using a variety of techniques
• Colour hair to create a variety of looks
• Bridal hair styling
It is expected as an adult learner that you complete all written course work at home and develop practical skills at home, enabling the learner to build confidence.
All units contain internal formative and summative practical assessments which will be carried out for each unit. You will be continually assessed through written means including knowledge questions, assignments, oral questions and tasks. Each unit is graded pass, merit, distinction and an overall grade is awarded with all grades calculated together to gain a level mark pass, merit or distinction and awarded on completion.

On successful completion of this qualification you could progress directly into employment in a variety of contexts, which include:
• commercial salons
• independent/self-employed/freelance/home-based settings
• cruise liners
• session stylists
Whilst the primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners for employment, learners may choose to develop their knowledge and skills further by completing a specialist qualification at Level 4 in the following area:
