The objective of this qualification is to support learners wishing to become a paediatric first-aider in the workplace with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children.
Learners are required to be 16 years of age prior to certification and should have a minimum level of Level 1 English to enable completion of the assessment
Subjects covered include the roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider, how to provide first aid to an infant or child who is unresponsive, how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use of an automated external defibrillator. It also covers how to administer first aid to an infant or child who is choking, has a fracture or other conditions, such as burns, electric shock and sudden poisoning
This qualification is assessed by both practical and theory assessment methods. Attendance to all sessions is mandatory
Individuals achieving this qualification can progress onto Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work
