Overview
This course assumes that you already have a basic level of language competence from Year 1 study in French and will help you to extend your knowledge and become more confident in expressing yourself through the reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Entry Requirements
Learners will be expected to be at Level One or have some practical knowledge in French before proceeding with this course, and language skills will be developed over the course duration.
Please speak to the tutor to assess your level and appropriate course.
Content
You will learn to speak, write, and understand the language by reading and listening in a variety of
situations including:
• Talking about yourself
• Describing people and places
• Giving your opinion and expressing preferences
• Making arrangements to go out
• Communicating in a variety of tourist situations
• Present, past and future time frames.
Assessment
Assessment of all four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) will take place informally throughout the year of study.

You may like to bring a pad and pen should you wish to make notes.
For this course you will need to purchase a course text book. The tutor will inform you about the choice of text book during the first taught session. Some students also like to have their own foreign language dictionary.
