Overview
This qualification is designed to provide introductory knowledge and skill for enhancing communication with deaf* people.
*The term ‘deaf’ relates to all of the following: Deaf, deafened, deafblind, hard of hearing, Deaf BSL users, Deaf visually impaired, blind hearing impaired and people with congenital deaf-blindness.
Entry Requirements
No previous experience of British/Irish Sign Language or knowledge is needed.
Content
To achieve the qualification, learners are required to achieve two units – one theory and one practical:
Deaf and Deafblind Awareness (multiple choice exam)
Communication Tactics with Deaf and Deafblind People (Assessment of practical skills)
Assessment
This qualification is assessed by both practical and theory assessment methods.
Attendance to all sessions is mandatory.
