The course combines practical work with related theory in preparation and styling hair, eye treatments, and make-up for special occasion and fashion/photographic work and body art. In addition, this course will develop your communication and personal skills, which are essential in this type of work.
Candidates will need to have a keen interest in the hair and media industry,plus at least 4 GCSE grade C or above / 4-9
– Working in the make-up industry
– Anatomy & physiology
– Research, develop and showcase designs
– The art of applying makeup
– Hair artistry
– Creative make-up artistry- to include paint techniques and some special effects
You will also gain a college certificate in brow shape and false lash application.
Assessment will take place within the work place. Questions will be asked on each unit to satisfy there is an understanding of the underpinning knowledge.
Types of assessment are:
– Written assignment
– Practical observation
– Sketch book and scrap book creation
– Written end of year exam
– Oral questions
– Work based learning (60 hours’ work experience)
Successful candidates can progress to study a Diploma Level 3 in media Make-up hair and special effects
