We offer second year language courses in French and Spanish. The course assumes that you already have a basic level of language competence in your chosen foreign language and will help you to extend your knowledge and become more confident in expressing yourself through the mediums of reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Learners will be expected to have completed a Beginners/Level One qualification or have some practical knowledge in their chosen language before proceeding with this course.
You will learn to speak, write, and understand the language by reading and listening in a variety of
• Talking about yourself
• Describing people and places
• Giving your opinion and expressing preferences
• Making arrangements to go out
• Communicating in a variety of tourist situations
• Present, past and future time frames.
Assessment of all four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) will take place informally
throughout the year of study.
After completing the Improvers course you will be able to progress on to the Year 3 course.
You may like to bring a pad and pen should you wish to make notes. For this course you will need to purchase a course text book. The tutor will inform you about the choice of text book during the first taught session. Some students also like to have their own foreign language dictionary.
