19 Years and Over


This course will enable you to achieve an intermediate level of spoken fluency in certain everyday situations and will help you to extend your skills in listening, reading and writing.
If you are already confident in using the present tense, have mastered the basics of the past preterite tense and the future tense and wish to progress to using these further, along with learning how to use the imperfect and conditional tenses then this is the course for you!

Entry Requirements

Learners will be expected to have undertaken some previous study in their chosen language before proceeding with this course.


You will learn to speak and write the language, as well as understand the spoken and written
language in a variety of situations including:
• Talking about yourself and others
Describing people and places
Talking about the environment and social problems
• Giving your opinion and expressing preferences
• Making arrangements to go out
• Holidays and free time including IT and media
• A variety of past, present and future tenses


Assessment of all four skills (reading, writing, listening and Speaking) will take place informally throughout the year of study.

Awarding body

This is not an accredited course however the College will provide you with an Attendance Certificate

Fees Advanced Learning Loan:


After completing the course you will be able to progress on to the Advanced Intermediate level course, by agreement with your teacher.

Additional information

You may like to bring a pad and pen should you wish to make notes.
For this course you will need to purchase a course text book. The tutor will inform you about the choice of text book during the first taught session. Some students also like to have their own foreign language dictionary.
