Macclesfield College UAL Extended/ Diploma in Fashion students showed their designs on the catwalk at Macclesfield Town Hall for their end of year showcase.

A collection of individual designs were presented on the catwalk of gender neutral, womenswear and menswear designs. Students produced their designs using a wide range of skills, from flat pattern cutting, to creative shape making to develop unique silhouettes.  Some designs were knitted, hand embroidered, hand silk screened or digitally printed.

Year one UAL Fashion student Olivia Burns was excited to see the catwalk show:

‘‘It was amazing and very emotional seeing everyone’s designs on the catwalk. It has been an incredible journey!’’

UAL Fashion student Alfred Jackson reflects upon his time on the course,

‘‘The fashion course has been the best decision I have ever made. The course briefs allow you to respond with your own individual point of view. I have always been encouraged us to dig deep into myself to develop my own individual concepts that are personal to me. I have developed skills that have helped me to find my creative handwriting as a designer. From working on the course these past two years I have built up a strong portfolio and I’m looking forward to starting University studying Fashion at The University of Salford in September. The fashion show was epic!’’

The first years shall successfully enter year two of the course and the second years have once again secured offers from the best courses in the UK for fashion and some students shall enter full time employment in industry related areas.

Course leader for fashion Angela Devoti commented;

‘‘I want to congratulate all the fashion students for all their hard work, dedication, passion and creativity; they are all of an exceptional and incredible group of talent! The students have all embraced the fashion pathway and have brought so much energy to the course.

My role has always been to teach pure skills and to help students to develop their individuality with confidence. Seeing each student putting all their instincts and all their feeling so openly and honestly into your work, I really couldn’t ask for anything else!

They complete the course and leave with strong skills and belief in their own vision and this is why our alumni continue to be so successful at university and go into the industry and gain fantastic positions. The majority of our former students have gone on to work with a lot of independent designers and brands in London and across Europe. Some also become stylists and image makers and contribute to leading fashion publications

Once again I wish them all every success, it really has been an honour and a privilege to be part of their journey!’’
