Former Macclesfield College student Amy Edwards came back to College this week to share her experiences as a degree student currently studying, BA (HONS) Business and Management at MMU.
The fashion students have recently started working on a project, Opportunities for progression in art and design. The students have been asked to gather research towards progression opportunities in fashion education and industry to help them gain a further knowledge about the wide range of higher education courses and careers in fashion for the future.
Former student Amy talking to Fashion Students about life after College
Course Leader Angela Devoti commented:
‘‘Once again I am so proud to welcome back our former students to share their incredible experiences in higher education and industry with the current students. The level 3 students learn so much first hand relevant information from our former students who are out there experiencing working on degree courses and working with industry.
Amy completed our fashion course last June and left with distinction stars, she received offers from some of the best fashion courses in the UK both for design and fashion business. In the end she decided to take the business and management route. The students were intrigued to find out more about fashion business and management and learn about all Amy’s fantastic projects she has been working on. The group were treated to a exciting slide presentation and Amy brought with her past college portfolios and her most recent business portfolio, it was great for the students to compare and see how the other side of the industry works.’’
Former student Amy Edwards commented:
“Coming back to present to the current first year students was amazing! Getting to tell the group about what I have achieved and learnt from my fashion course while at Macclesfield College and showing my portfolio was very exciting and it was a good opportunity to show my journey from design into business and management and how transferable all the developed skills I learnt whilst on my course at Macclesfield are used to my advantage in a new area within fashion.
Studying BA (Hons) Fashion Business and Management at MMU, has been fantastic and I enjoyed so much sharing my experiences with the group. I discussed life as a degree student, the course structure and assignments we have been working on. I also shared current research slides taken from a recent trip to New York and my plans ahead in fashion business. I hope to be back soon and I am especially looking forward to watching another spectacular end of year show!”
‘‘As a student Amy was always so focused and determined to succeed, I had no doubt she would continue to flourish at MMU she has really grown into her role and Amy also shared some great tips about networking and collaborative work which our students found really useful. Once again this has been a fantastic learning experience for all, Congratulations Amy!’’
