An ex-student has landed a dream design job in London after studying a foundation degree at Macclesfield College.
Tessa Neale, who now works as a logo designer for Mini Boden in the capital, studied Foundation Art and Design before going on to University and has praised the college as well as the course.
“I loved my year doing the course! The people were great, it’s such a relaxed environment, and I got to try so many new art techniques,” said Tessa.
“I heard lots of great recommendations from friends of friends who had done the foundation course previously and it definitely set me up for University. It helped narrow down what I enjoyed which helped me to choose what kind of course I wanted to do.”
Before landing her current job, Tessa studied Textile Design at Nottingham Trent University, specialising in Printed Textiles, and has revealed that her time at Macclesfield College was crucial in preparing her for further education.
“The foundation degree at Macclesfield really helped me with building a portfolio and I wouldn’t have been anywhere near as prepared if I’d have gone straight from school.”
The proximity of Macclesfield College was also beneficial for Tessa as studying locally, rather than moving away, had many benefits.
“Being able to study while living at home meant that I could work in the local area which helped me to build other skills such as team working, communication and time management.
“It was great to have a college as good as this on my doorstep and I would encourage other people to study at Macclesfield if they’re looking to get into further education or need to top up their skills.”
