Macclesfield College has been praised by a former student who has spoken in positive terms about the teaching, facilities and learning environment there.

Connor Wyse, who studied Performing and Production Arts at Level 2 and 3, has described how the college enabled him to develop his talents and realise his ambitions.

“Macclesfield College were able to encourage me to find auditions and go out of my comfort zone and that felt brilliant,” said Connor.

“If you are wanting to learn more about the performing arts industry and increase your skills in all aspects of performing then Macclesfield College should definitely be one of your choices.

“The teachers have so much industry knowledge and definitely help bring out your skills and improve on the ones you’re not so confident in.”

After leaving college with Distinctions at both Level 2 & 3 and a Level 3 Extended Diploma Merit, Connor now works at EscapeHunt in Manchester where he uses his performance skills to entertain guests and make their experience as fun as possible.

On top of this, he also works with Romiley Operatic Society (ROS) and the North Manchester Amateur Operatic and Drama Society to put on different musicals, using the skills learned at Macclesfield College to wow audiences.

“Since leaving college I have just finished a run of The Addams Family musical where I played Pugsley Addams and in March 2019 I will be performing with ROS at the Stockport Plaza in OLIVER! as The Artful Dodger,” enthused Connor.

“The summer I left college I also featured as a dancer and inventor in an ROS production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a show I never thought I would perform in before I started studying at Macclesfield College.”

Although Connor now gets to hone and practice his singing and acting skills in full-blown productions, he has revealed how the facilities at Macclesfield College were brilliant for rehearsing.

“The college had really nice creative spaces for all kinds of performing arts. There were so many different rooms that I could go to play instruments and sing without disturbing anyone which was amazing.

“All of the facilities were really modern too; as a performing arts student I couldn’t have asked for more.”
