Macclesfield College takes local action to mark Colleges Week 2021

Following on from the success of last year’s ‘Love Our Colleges’ campaign, Macclesfield College dedicated 18 – 22 October to Colleges Week 2021 and highlighting the amazing work colleges do and why long-term investment is crucial if the government is to ‘level up’ all areas of the country.

As part of Colleges Week, Macclesfield College ran events across the College and invited in local MP David Rutley to meet the students and see the fantastic work they do. With the government’s comprehensive spending review taking place imminently, Colleges Week is also a reminder to the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak  that funding colleges, training and skills is the catalyst for a stronger, fairer and more resilient society. We are calling on David Rutley to ensure we remain a priority in the comprehensive spending review.

Rachel Kay, CEO and Principal said: Our College has played a vital role in the skills and education of thousands of Students.  It is an honour and a privilege to celebrate further education on a national platform like Love our Colleges week.

David Rutley, Local MP, said: Love Our Colleges Week’ is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate Macclesfield College’s important work. It plays a vital role in our community and in helping so many young people to learn and acquire new skills that will prepare them well for the world of work. I am particularly proud of all the College does to offer apprenticeships and the achievements with its Academies – I wish Macclesfield College continued success in the year ahead.
