There’s never been a better time to study at Macclesfield College

Macclesfield College is enjoying a great start to 2019 with recent figures showing a 30% rise in applications this year compared to the same time in 2018/19.

The college is delighted by the number of strong applications across all curriculum areas and specialist sectors for courses starting in 2019 and are looking forward to continuing to provide a fantastic learning experience for their students.

These great figures coincide with the launch of two exciting new academies, the growth of its apprenticeship provision, the popular free courses that have been well attended by the business community and the list of new courses currently being added to the college’s already extensive offer.

The Whites Chef Academy, with Michelin starred Chef Aiden Byrne as principal patron, is one of two academies the college will launch in September 2019 and has received an extremely positive reaction from the general public.  The college’s health academy is also launching in September in collaboration with Macclesfield General Hospital and allows prospective students to benefit from direct industry experience. It will also give them the opportunity to go directly into a prosperous career upon the completion of the course.

Principal and CEO, Rachel Kay, expressed how proud she is of the significant growth of the apprenticeship provision within the college and its retained quality: “We have seen our employer engagement flourish at the college which is a critical ingredient for our success and our many apprentices.  We are very passionate about serving our local community and providing our students with the skills employers are looking for.”

Macclesfield College is also continuing to expand its course offering with members of staff and key partners currently working together to compile the upcoming prospectus. They’re also taking recommendations from the general public in a bid to ensure their courses are representative of what the people in Macclesfield and the surrounding areas want to see at their local college.

When discussing the rise in applications this year and the college’s recent successes, Rachel said: “This year’s applications reaffirm our status as an excellent provider of further and technical education. We aim to provide students with a learning experience that equips them for the future and inspires them to achieve their goals.”

She continued: “For any young person that wants to study at Macclesfield College in September 2019, we look forward to seeing you at our open day events. There’s never been a better time to study at Macclesfield College.”
