The Level 2 Extended Certificate in Engineering is a nationally recognised work-related
qualification, which encompasses mechanical and electrical elements designed to give you a good start on your journey to a career in engineering.
The course is based around examined units and assignment lead units that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. The course will introduce you to and prepare you for the world of work.
The course provides a good basis to progress onto a level 3 qualification like the Level 3 Engineering or Aeronautical. Alternatively it can used to assist you in gaining an apprenticeship in your desired discipline.

Electrical and Electronic Engineering is a very specialist subject area which encompasses many professions and industries aside from engineering itself. The broad nature of the subject matter allows for both generic units of study alongside specialist components and the Pearson BTEC Higher Nationals have been developed to focus on the education and training of engineers/technicians who are employed at a professional level in a variety of types of technical work such as in systems design, manufacture, maintenance and technical services areas of the mechanical, aeronautical, electronic and electrical engineering industries. These qualifications focus on the development of the higher level skills in a technological and management context and develop a range of skills, techniques and attributes essential for successful performance in working life. The Higher National qualifications provide an opportunity for you if you are an engineer/technician to achieve a nationally recognised Level 4 or Level 5 vocationally specific qualification. They also provide an opportunity for you if you are currently in full-time learning to enable you to progress to higher education to enable you to enter employment as an engineer/technician.

The Level 1 Award is an introductory course in 3D Computer Aided Design. It will provide a basic understanding associated with IT, CAD hardware and operating systems, and basic file management techniques, as well as giving a basic understanding of the parametric modelling process (3D) and its user interface.
Students will be able to use a range of commands to create and constrain sketches, produce extruded and revolved features, placed features to modify parametric models, and methods to create assemblies.
This course will develop your skills at 3D CAD, and can help you in any design-related job in manufacturing, architecture or engineering.
Using Solidworks software, students will develop skills in practical sessions and learn some of the theory behind 3D computer aided design.
