This qualification is intended to be accessible to a wide range of learners of all abilities.
Learners can develop a ‘hands-on’ approach to their learning and gain practical skills, knowledge and understanding in a chosen vocational area(s). The skills, knowledge and understanding gained may help learners prepare for work through real or simulated work situations and may contribute to preparing them for working life beyond education.
You will work in small groups and complete a range of practical and creative activities to help you get used to the College environment and the expectations of the academic level and criteria you will need to meet in order to progress further.

The courses will provide you with knowledge and skills in employability and a range of vocational areas of your choice, whilst building confidence and enabling you to acquire the experience, skills and understanding to progress to further vocational courses or employment within a variety of industries.

These courses include an Enterprise activity unit to support and increase your employability skills.

Our Foundation Learning courses provide an excellent educational experience for students who would otherwise find studying in the traditional classroom setting challenging and who would benefit from a more supportive environment.

All of our courses are designed to develop your skills and confidence and help you to lead a more independent lifestyle. Your course will be designed to meet your individual needs, and tutors and support staff will guide you throughout as you gain practical knowledge and experience.

This exciting new Level 1 course has been devised with the aim of progressing learners into further learning and/or employment. The qualification offers a diverse range of units that can be used to create individualised learning programmes giving learners an opportunity for both personal development and vocational experience.
Our Foundation Learning courses help students to build confidence and enable you to acquire the experience, skills and understanding to progress to further vocational courses or employment within a variety of industries. We combine the Employability and Personal & Social Development units with Vocational Units allowing learners to sample ‘taster’ units in different sector specific areas.
This qualification will provide opportunities for learners to both develop their skills (e.g. in ICT, employability, learning to learn) and to test out their abilities and personal preferences before selecting a chosen career or employment route.
This course includes a work placement element.
