End of Term Round Up

As we approach the Easter break, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on another busy and successful term at College. From student achievements to exciting events, there’s been plenty happening and we’re delighted to share some key highlights with you

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Cheshire Colleges Skills Competitions

We were proud to host the Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Automotive categories of the Cheshire Colleges Skills Competitions, where our students showcased their incredible talents. In addition, students from Media, Art, Electrical, Carpentry & Joinery, Engineering and many other areas competed at other Cheshire colleges, achieving fantastic results.

All our students performed exceptionally well and we are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication. Taking part in these competitions is a fantastic opportunity for them to develop their skills, gain valuable experience and push themselves to new heights. Well done to everyone involved!

Apprenticeship open event

On Wednesday 6th March, we hosted our annual Apprenticeship Open Event, open to all students at the College and the general public. The event provided students with a fantastic opportunity to speak directly with employers, learn about apprenticeship roles within their businesses and discover what employers are looking for in potential candidates. We were joined by a range of fantastic companies as seen below.

If you have any questions around apprenticeships get in touch with our Maxim Team and they will be happy to help: apprenticeships.maxim@macclesfield.ac.uk

EDIE - Inclusion Award

Inclusive Excellence Award from Inclusion UK

We’re excited to share that we’ve received the Inclusive Excellence Award from Inclusion UK! This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where all of our students and staff feel they belong.

This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and we’re excited to keep building on it to create an even stronger, more inclusive experience.

International Happiness Day

Celebrating International Happiness Day!

On Thursday 20th March, we celebrated International Happiness Day in the Rotunda, thanks to our fantastic enrichment team! They set up a vibrant space to spread positivity and encourage students to reflect on what makes them happy.

It was heartwarming to see the variety of answers shared by students, with common themes emerging such as family, friends, pets and so on. It was a wonderful reminder of the things that bring joy to our lives and a perfect way to spread some happiness across the College!

Supporting Your Young Person’s Next Steps

Over the coming weeks, our team will be working with your young person to support them in planning their next steps. If they wish to continue their studies with us at the college, they can progress directly onto their next course without needing to submit a new application.

Our team will provide personalised advice and guidance to help them make informed decisions about their future pathways.

Understanding 'Incel Culture' and Online Safety

In light of Netflix’s mini-series Adolescent, we felt it was important to share information about Incel Culture and its potential impact. This is a subject that is becoming more relevant in today’s digital world, and we want to equip parents with knowledge to keep their children safe online.

We’ve also included a guide to text emojis that could help you identify if your child is sending or receiving inappropriate content.
