Macclesfield College is proud to announce its exceptional achievements at the recent Access to Higher Education (HE) Celebration evening, held on Thursday 7th November, at The Library of Birmingham.
Among the highlights of the evening was the success of Ashanna, a former Access to HE student, who won the Commitment to Study Award. Reflecting on her journey, Ashanna credited the Access to HE course for reshaping her aspirations and building her confidence. Once unsure of her potential, she now embraces a world of possibilities as she pursues a degree in English and American Literature.
Ashanna shared her advice for future students, encouraging them to embrace the supportive environment of the course. “Ask questions, engage and lean into the community – it’s life changing,” she said. Her story of perseverance and transformation is an inspiration to all considering a return to education.
Macclesfield College also achieved a major milestone, reaching the final four out of 92 centres for the prestigious Centre of the Year Award. Whilst the top prize narrowly eluded them, being recognised as a finalist is a testament to the dedication of the College’s Access to HE department, which empowers students to achieve their educational and career goals.
A special acknowledgment goes to Lisa Cotterill, whose outstanding contributions to Access to HE were celebrated during the event. Her dedication continues to inspire both students and colleagues.
The evening was a resounding success, showcasing the profound impact of Access to HE courses in transforming lives. Macclesfield College remains committed to supporting students on their journey to higher education and beyond.
