Strong First Season for Newly Formed College Football Team

Macclesfield College is celebrating the success of its newly formed football team after an impressive debut season saw the squad secure third place in the league.

Launched later than other teams in the competition, the students came together quickly and adapted throughout the season with a changing line-up and limited preparation time. Their determination, teamwork and positive attitude helped the team climb from the bottom of the table in March to a top three finish by the end of the season.

The achievement reflects not only sporting success, but also the wider personal development opportunities available through student life at Macclesfield College. Throughout the season, students developed confidence, resilience, communication skills and teamwork, qualities that will support them both in education and beyond.

Macclesfield College is proud of the way the students represented the College on and off the pitch, showing commitment, sportsmanship and a strong team spirit throughout the season.

Lecturer in Sport, Robbie George, praised the squad’s efforts and progress across the year.

“We started the season late and used lots of different players throughout, but every student represented the College brilliantly. They played some great football, scored some fantastic goals and showed real commitment throughout. To finish third after where we started is a fantastic achievement and everyone involved should be proud.”

While the competitive season has now finished, plans are already underway to keep students involved in football on campus over the coming weeks as the College continues to grow opportunities for students to stay active, connected and engaged.
