Level 3 Engineering Design Technician

A Level 3 Engineering Design Technician Apprenticeship is ideal for those looking to build a career within the engineering industry.

Whilst completing this apprenticeship, you will build the skills needed to use digital technologies and techniques, such as Computer‑Aided Design (CAD), to produce detailed 3D models. You will also learn how to identify and assess key factors that influence design decisions, including materials, application, location, risk and environmental considerations.

Level 3 Machining Technician

During a Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship, you will develop the skills to set up, operate and adjust machinery to manufacture components to exact specifications.

You will gain experience working with a variety of equipment, including Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines and learn how to produce, prove and validate machining programmes. You will also develop a strong understanding of health and safety regulations and quality standards, ensuring all work is completed safely and to industry requirements.

Level 3 Engineering Fitter

Looking to start a career in the engineering industry? An Level 3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship could be the perfect fit for you.

During this apprenticeship, you will learn how to assemble a wide range of components to produce equipment, machines and systems. You will develop the skills to interpret technical drawings and diagrams, ensuring components are assembled accurately to specification. You will also gain experience in quality checking and adjusting components, carrying out testing and calibration and identifying and resolving issues within assemblies.

Level 4 Lead Engineering Maintenance Technician

A Lead Engineering Maintenance Technician, plays a vital role in providing technical expertise, leadership and support across a range of engineering activities, including the installation, maintenance, refitting, upgrading and testing of complex systems, machinery and equipment.

Whilst completing this apprenticeship, you will build the skills needed to plan maintenance activities and carry out inspections on equipment, including monitoring pressure, flow and temperature. You will also develop your knowledge of risk identification, health and safety regulations and engineering materials.

Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician - Dual Discipline

Engineering Maintenance Technicians play a vital role across a wide range of industries that rely on plant machinery, equipment and engineering systems. Career opportunities can be found in sectors including energy, manufacturing, processing, utilities and leisure and entertainment.

During this apprenticeship, apprentices will develop the practical skills and technical knowledge needed to maintain and optimise industrial plant and equipment. Apprentices will also learn how to safely prepare for and carry out maintenance tasks, follow industry health and safety standards and contribute to continuous improvement activities within the workplace.

Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician - Single Discipline

Looking to start a career in engineering? A Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician Single Discipline apprenticeship could be the perfect place to begin.

During this apprenticeship, you will develop the knowledge needed to help keep plant operations, equipment and systems safe and reliable. You will learn how to carry out preventative and reactive maintenance, identify and resolve faults and support the smooth running of engineering operations. Additionally, you will also learn how to prepare for and accept maintenance tasks, work safely to industry standards, complete jobs effectively and maintain accurate work records and documentation.

Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician

Mechatronic Maintenance Technicians work across a wide range of engineering sectors, including aerospace, aviation, automotive, defence, logistics, pharmaceutical and energy. Their key role is to maintain and optimise complex automated equipment and systems to ensure safe, efficient and reliable operation.

As you progress through this apprenticeship, you will build practical skills to plan and prepare maintenance activities, set up safe systems of work, and ensure compliance with statutory regulations and organisational requirements. You will also gain practical experience in manufacturing, repairing or refurbishing components using a range of hand and machine tools. In addition, you will develop your knowledge of the fundamentals of engineering maintenance and gain an understanding of key health and safety regulations, supporting safe and effective working practices.

A full-time job – all Apprentices are employed by a company where they will gain hands-on experience and expertise

Qualification – the apprentice will also study for a qualification at the same time as working. They may come into College once a week or they may study completely in the workplace.

Salary – An apprentice earns a salary.  Like any type of job role, the amount of money earned will depend on the employer.

Apprenticeships can be delivered through a variety of methods including a blend of one-to-one support, online training, College workshops and self-directed study. We will work with you and your employer to develop an individualised learning plan that works for you.

There are a wide range of apprenticeships for you to choose from starting at level 2 all the way up to level 6.

The length of your apprenticeship will depend on the job that you are doing, the standard that you are working towards and how much previous experience you have.

The length of an apprenticeship depends on the job you’re doing, your age and how much experience you have.

To be recognised as an apprentice you must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per-week.
