Level 3 Laboratory Technician

Laboratory Technicians play an essential role in scientific research, testing and experimentation across a variety of industries and laboratory environments. They use a range of scientific techniques and laboratory equipment to support investigations and produce accurate results.

During a Level 3 Laboratory Technician apprenticeship, apprentices will develop the practical skills and scientific knowledge needed to prepare, plan and carry out laboratory based investigations and experiments. They will also learn how to use specialist instrumentation and laboratory equipment, apply data analysis tools to interpret results and generate accurate scientific information from testing and experimentation.

Level 5 Technician Scientist

Looking to build a career in science? A Level 5 Technical Scientist apprenticeship could be the perfect next step.

Throughout this apprenticeship, you will build advanced scientific knowledge and practical laboratory skills needed to support laboratory based investigations and experiments. You will learn how to use data analysis tools to produce reliable interpretations and evaluations, as well as how to review and select appropriate scientific techniques for different tasks. You will also gain experience in the principles of laboratory techniques and scientific experimentation, along with using and maintaining laboratory equipment to ensure accurate, safe and efficient working practices.

Level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician

Science Manufacturing Technicians play an important role within science industry plants by specialising in the installation, maintenance, testing and repair of both mechanical and electrical equipment. These technicians help ensure the reliability, safety and efficiency of critical machinery and systems used within scientific and manufacturing environments.

During this Level 3 apprenticeship, you will develop the knowledge needed to understand the science process manufacturing sector, including health and safety regulations, industry standards and potential safety hazards. You will also build practical skills in undertaking quality assurance processes, completing accurate process documentation, and identifying, resolving or escalating issues related to process performance, quality, health and safety, environmental factors and operational conditions when they fall outside expected parameters.

Level 3 Metrology Technician

Interested in a career in science? A Level 3 Metrology Technician Apprenticeship could be the perfect option for you. Metrology Technicians play an important role in the science industry, identifying measurement requirements and carrying out precise measurement tasks using a range of tools, equipment, instrumentation, materials and software.

While completing this apprenticeship, you will build the skills and knowledge needed to identify measurement needs and prepare for tasks in line with relevant standards and procedures. You will learn how to carry out accurate measurements, record and maintain results and analyse data effectively. You will also develop a strong understanding of working in line with health, safety, environmental and ethical legislation, ensuring all work meets industry standards.

A full-time job – all Apprentices are employed by a company where they will gain hands-on experience and expertise

Qualification – the apprentice will also study for a qualification at the same time as working. They may come into College once a week or they may study completely in the workplace.

Salary – An apprentice earns a salary.  Like any type of job role, the amount of money earned will depend on the employer.

Apprenticeships can be delivered through a variety of methods including a blend of one-to-one support, online training, College workshops and self-directed study. We will work with you and your employer to develop an individualised learning plan that works for you.

The length of your apprenticeship will depend on the job that you are doing, the standard that you are working towards and how much previous experience you have.

The length of an apprenticeship depends on the job you’re doing, your age and how much experience you have.

To be recognised as an apprentice you must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per-week.
