UAL Level 2 Award and Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology

Overview

What will I study?

Get ready to dive into the dynamic world of creative media! This hands on course will equip you with the essential skills, techniques and knowledge needed to bring your ideas to life across different media platforms During this course you will explore a full range of units including, but not limited to:

Creative Media Skills & Techniques
Introduction to production techniques in creative media
Understanding an audience in creative media production
Contextual research for creative media production
Exploring audio production and technology
Exploring visual production and technology
Exploring interactive media production and technology
Personal project and presentation in creative media production

If you are passionate about media, creativity and storytelling, this course will give you the tools to turn your ideas into reality Alongside your main programme of study you will also study either GCSE or Functional Skills in English and maths if you have not achieved a GCSE grade 4 or above.

What career or further study opportunities will be available after completion?

On successful achievement of this course you may wish to apply to progress onto the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology or a Level 3 Games Design course or the T Level in Media, Broadcast and Production if you have achieved a Merit or Distinction overall at the end of your Level 2 course. You could also study an apprenticeship or go into the world of work in a variety of creative media roles.

What are the entry requirements for this course & what qualifications will I gain upon completion?

For this course, you will need to have achieved 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above. On successful completion of this course, you will achieve the UAL Level Two Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology qualification.

How long does it take to finish the course?

This is a full-time programme for one academic year.

This dynamic course is your gateway to the world of Creative Media Production, setting you up for higher education, an apprenticeship or an exciting career in the media industry. Whether you’re into graphics, motion design, VFX, 2D & 3D digital art, game design, content creation, film, TV, social media, radio or sound design, this course will give you the skills to turn your passion into a profession. You’ll develop hands on production skills, explore industry techniques and apply your creativity in projects. If you’re ready to push boundaries and bring your ideas to life, this is the place to do it! The course consists of the following units:

Media production & technical skills
Design and research skills in creative media production
Professional practice in creative media production
Critical and contextual awareness in creative media production
Mastering audio production and technology
Visual storytelling and production
Investigating interactive production and technology
Developing a creative media production project

What career or further study opportunities will be available after completion?

On completion of this course:

You may progress into Higher Education to undertake a Degree in a Media related subject
The UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma is also valued by employers and can lead to career opportunities in the Creative Media industry such as cinematography, marketing, animation, producer, researcher, level designer, concept artist, script writer.
Study an Apprenticeship in a creative field

What are the entry requirements for this course & what qualifications will I gain upon completion?

For this course, you will need to have achieved 4 GCSEs or more including maths or English Language, ideally both. When you successfully complete the course, you will achieve the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology qualification. The UAL Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology is equivalent to three A Levels and can attract a maximum of 168 UCAS points. You can exit this course after one year and achieve a Diploma equivalent to one A Level or continue to second year to gain the Extended Diploma.

How long does it take to finish the course?

This is a full-time programme for two academic years. However, you will need to successfully complete year 1 in order to go on to year 2
