What you will study

Joining our Construction Skills courses at the College offers training in essential areas such as bricklaying, joinery, wall tiling, painting & decorating, carpentry, plastering and plumbing. You’ll develop a strong foundation in these various trades.

Career

Progression

After completing one of our Construction Skills courses, you’ll have a clear idea of which area you’d like to specialise in and can progress into a higher qualification within that field. You can pursue further qualifications in areas such as bricklaying, joinery, carpentry or plumbing, or explore apprenticeships to gain more practical experience.

This opens up a world of opportunities in the Construction Industry, allowing you to specialise in trades such as masonry, woodworking, tiling or site management and play a key role in building and shaping our physical world.

Entry Level

Minimum GCSE Entry Requirements:
No GCSEs or mostly grade 1s

Progression:
You can advance to a Level 1 in your chosen area or start an apprenticeship.

Level 1

Minimum GCSE Entry Requirements:
Mostly grades 3-1 2s in maths and English

Progression:
Upon completing this level, you can advance to a Level 2 Diploma or start an apprenticeship.

Level 2

Minimum entry requirements:
4 x grade 3s Level 1 in chosen trade

Progression:
Upon completing this level, you can advance to a Level 3 Diploma or start an apprenticeship.

Progress onto an apprenticeship such as:
Craft Carpentry and Joinery
Construction Support Technician
Construction Site Supervisor
Gas network operative
