Macclesfield College students and staff have come together to support an important local cause, raising funds for My CWA (Cheshire Without Abuse) as part of the College’s International Women’s Day celebrations.
Linking to this year’s theme, Give to Gain, the College community took on an ambitious “Macc to Paris” spin challenge, aiming to collectively cycle 500 miles in a single day. Through determination, teamwork and a shared sense of purpose, participants achieved their goal, reaching an impressive 501.5 miles.
The challenge also raised £505 for My CWA, a local charity providing vital support to individuals affected by domestic abuse. The funds raised will help contribute to essential services across the local community, supporting those who need it most.
Seb Catania, Director of Student Services & Inclusion at Macclesfield College, said:
“This challenge really captured the spirit of our College community. It was fantastic to see students and staff come together for such an important cause, showing real commitment, resilience and compassion. The impact of supporting a charity like My CWA cannot be underestimated and I’m incredibly proud of everyone who took part.”
Events like this play an important role in enriching the student experience at Macclesfield College, giving students the opportunity to be part of something meaningful beyond the classroom. By taking part, students build confidence, develop a strong sense of community and see first hand the positive impact they can make.
The initiative also reflects the College’s commitment to supporting local organisations and working in partnership to make a difference across Cheshire.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who cycled, donated and supported throughout the day, helping to create a positive impact both within the College and across the wider community.
