Macclesfield College Celebrates ‘Exceptional’ Staff Survey Results

Macclesfield College is celebrating exceptional results from its latest  Cultural Staff Survey, conducted through The Happiness Index platform.

The findings reveal a thriving, people first culture that underpins the College’s success and its ongoing commitment to students, staff and the wider community.

Over the past three years, staff happiness has increased from 75% to 82%, with engagement also rising from 74% to 82% – both well above the global benchmark of 77%. These results reflect a motivated, values driven workforce that plays a vital role in delivering outstanding education and support to learners and partners across the region.

The survey also highlighted that 92% of staff are committed to the success of the College, and 90% genuinely enjoy working with their colleagues. This strong sense of connection and purpose is central to the College’s collaborative and innovative environment.

Wellbeing remains a key priority, with 84% of staff satisfied with the freedom they have in their roles and 82% feeling able to manage their workload effectively. Initiatives such as flexible working, including remote Fridays, are helping to create a healthier, more balanced working culture.

While the results are overwhelmingly positive, the College remains focused on continuous improvement. One area identified for development is clearer career progression pathways and work is already underway to address this.
