Overview

What will I study?

During this course you will explore a full range of units including but not limited to: Mandatory Units:
  • Principles of marketing
  • Enterprise in the business world
  • Finance for business
Specialist Units to include:
  • Promoting a brand
  • Introducing project management
  • Building successful teams
  • Principles of customer service
Alongside your main programme of study you will also study either GCSE or Functional Skills in English and maths if you have not achieved a GCSE grade 4 or above.

What career or further study opportunities will be available after completion?

On successful completion of this course you may wish to:  
  • Apply to study the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business if you have achieved a Merit or above
  • Enter a business related career such as administration, finance, customer services, sales, ICT, accounting or personnel.
  • Secure an apprenticeship in a business related field

What are the entry requirements for this course & what qualifications will I gain upon completion?

For this course you will need 4 GCSEs Grade 3 or above ideally to include English and maths On successful completion of this course you will gain a BTEC Level 2 First Certificate in Business qualification.  This qualification is equivalent to 3 GCSEs grades 4-9.

How long does it take to finish the course?

This is a full-time programme for one academic year.

This course will allow progression to study an Apprenticeship, study higher education such as HNC / HND business at Macclesfield College or University. Alternatively, you could go straight into the industry in a variety of roles.

You will have the opportunity to take part in exciting educational and industrial visits during your business course. Destinations may include The Co-operative Bank, Petty Pool, Alton Towers and The Trafford Centre. These trips provide practical experience and valuable insights into the dynamic business sector, along with opportunities to connect with industry professionals.

Outside of the classroom, Abigail-Jo made significant contributions to the College community. She actively participated in organising events, volunteered at a local food bank and provided valuable support to her fellow students.
