Overview

What will I study?

During this course you will explore a full range of units including, but not limited to:
  • Introduction to creative media methods and skills
  • Introduction to production techniques in creative media
  • Understanding an audience in creative media production
  • Contextual research for creative media production
  • Exploring audio production and technology
  • Exploring visual production and technology
  • Exploring interactive media production and technology
  • Personal project and presentation in creative media production
  Alongside your main programme of study you will also study either GCSE or Functional Skills in English and maths if you have not achieved a GCSE grade 4 or above.

What career or further study opportunities will be available after completion?

On successful achievement of this course you may wish to apply to progress onto the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology or a Level 3 Games Design course or the T Level in Media, Broadcast and Production if you have achieved a Merit or Distinction overall at the end of your Level 2 course.   You could also study an apprenticeship or go into the world of work in a variety of creative media roles.

What are the entry requirements for this course & what qualifications will I gain upon completion?

For this course, you will need to have achieved a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English or maths. On successful completion of this course, you will achieve the UAL Level Two Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology qualification.

How long does it take to finish the course?

This is a full-time programme for one academic year.

Overview

What will I study?

This course provides an excellent and varied programme giving access to Higher Education or to a wide variety of Media Production careers. You will develop skills, contextual knowledge and understanding in Creative Media Production and apply your learning in a practical and realistic way. If you have a keen interest in graphics, motion design, VFX, 2D, 3D digital art, game concept, level design, content creation, film and television, social media, radio practice sound design and theory and a desire to follow a media-related career then this course is for you. The course consists of the following units:
  • Introduction to media processes and technical skills
  • Introduction to design and research skills in creative media production
  • Introduction to professional practice in creative media production
  • Critical and contextual awareness in creative media production
  • Investigating audio production and technology
  • Investigating visual production and technology
  • Investigating interactive production and technology
  • Developing a creative media production project

What career or further study opportunities will be available after completion?

On completion of this course:
  • You may progress into Higher Education to undertake a Degree in a Media related subject
  • The UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma is also valued by employers and can lead to career opportunities in the Creative Media industry such as cinematography, marketing, animation, producer, researcher, level designer, concept artist, script writer.
  • Study an Apprenticeship in a creative field

For this course, you will need to have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths. Alternatively a Level 2 qualification with a Merit in a related field (Including English and maths) When you successfully complete the course, you will achieve the UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology qualification.  The UAL Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology is equivalent to three A Levels and can attract a maximum of 168 UCAS points.   You can exit this course after one year and achieve a Diploma equivalent to one A Level or continue to second year to gain the Extended Diploma.

How long does it take to finish the course?

This is a full-time programme for two academic years. However, you will need to successfully complete year 1 in order to go on to year 2

T Level: Media, Broadcast and Production

Overview

What will I study?

  • Content creation from ideation to production
  • Problem solving independently and in teams
  • The impact of cultural and technological influences on media
  • Visual storytelling and audience engagement
  • Industry standard software, including Adobe Creative Suite
  • Practical experience with professional 4K cameras
  • Professional behaviours, ethics and social responsibility
  • Live client briefs, pitching and showcasing work
  • Collaboration across media roles and industry practices

What career or further study opportunities will be available after completion?

When you have completed your T Level it will be graded Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*. The qualification gains you the highest grade of Distinction* equivalent to 3 A-Levels at A*. You could progress onto:
  • Study higher education (HNC) at Macclesfield College.
  • Degree level study at university.
  • Degree apprenticeship
  • Junior role within the industry
