Overview

What will I study?

During this course you will explore a full range of units including, but not limited to: Structure of the construction industry
  • Fundamental safe working practices
  • Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
  • Site preparation for working in the construction industry
  • Electrical installation wiring and terminations
  • Fabrication techniques for electrical installation
  • Electrical science and technology

What career or further study opportunities will be available after completion?

On successful achievement of this course you may wish to:
  • Level 2 Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation (maths and English GCSEs 4 or above must be achieved
  • Apply for an Apprenticeship in the construction industry.

What are the entry requirements for this course & what qualifications will I gain upon completion?

For this course you will need to have achieved the following: 4 GCSEs at Grade 2 or above including a Grade 3 in English and maths Alongside your main programme of study you will also study either GCSE or Functional Skills in English and maths if you have not achieved a GCSE grade 4 or above. Level 1 Diploma in Electrical Installation

How long does it take to finish the course?

This is a full-time programme for one academic year

Overview

What will I study?

During this course you will explore a full range of units including, but not limited to:  
  • Health and safety in building services engineering
  • Principles of electrical science
  • Electrical installations of technology
  • Installation of wiring systems and enclosures
  • Understand how to communicate with others within building services

What career or further study opportunities will be available after completion?

On successful achievement of this course you may wish to:
  • C&G Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installation (Buildings and Structures)
  • C&G Level 3 Diploma in Electrotechnology
  • C&G Level 3 Award in Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations
  • C&G Level 3 Award in Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations
  • Apply for an Apprenticeship
  • Pursue Employment in the Industry

Calvin Panayi, Electrical Student of the Year 2024, stood out as a model student with an exceptional work ethic. Known for working through breaks and helping his peers, Calvin consistently produced high quality work, ensuring every task was completed to the best of his ability.

He maintained strong attendance in maths and English, demonstrating his dedication across all subjects. From day one, Calvin showed a clear passion for becoming an Electrician.

Calvin went above and beyond by independently securing his own work experience, impressing his placement company, which is now considering him for a full-time apprenticeship.

He truly exemplifies the qualities of hard work, perseverance and professionalism.
