You will be provided with an independent learning plan, suited to the way you learn. We offer a range of vocational courses and you will also follow a programme of English and maths at an appropriate level up to GCSE.

What you will study

You will engage in a range of activities that will help you develop essential life skills and prepare you for future employment. Our Pathways programme focuses on building practical, transferable skills, including employability, organisation and people skills. You'll learn how to contribute to your community and your ability to work with others.

At Macclesfield College, our Pathways Department is dedicated to helping you find the right course tailored to your unique learning needs.

TAILORED LEARNING EXPERIENCES
Whether you require a high level of additional learning support (ALS) or need supported transition from school, our Pathways team is here for you. We offer personalised learning environments with small class sizes.

FLEXIBLE PROGRESSION OPTIONS
After the Entry Level and Level 1 Award, you have flexible options. Some learners may advance to a Level 1 programme in a specific subject such as Business or Health & Social Care, while others might complete a Level 1 Certificate in Pathways to gain more experience and confidence.

ENDLESS OPPORTUNITIES
In our Pathways Department, the possibilities for your education and career are limitless. Finding the right course means discovering your passions and how to achieve your dreams.

Trips/employers

Throughout the Pathways course, you will have the chance to go on a variety of exciting trips. Some examples include visits to Chester Zoo, Jodrell Bank, Manchester City and Super Bowl Bowling. Please note that the specific trips may change each year, but they are all designed to enhance your experience, foster teamwork and provide enjoyable experiences.

We are proud to shine a spotlight on Annabelle Kelly, our Pathways Student of the Year for 2024! Annabelle has consistently impressed everyone with her hard work and cheerful attitude. As an ambassador for the Pathways programme, she has actively participated in open days and supported her fellow students.

Her dedication to her studies and positive mindset set a great example for her classmates. Known for her friendly nature, Annabelle is always willing to help others and advocates for students with special educational needs.

This year, she has raised money for various charities, engaged in extracurricular activities and taken significant steps toward independence by shopping in town on her own. Described as “a star that shines bright each day she is in college,” Annabelle truly embodies the spirit of our Pathways programme.
