Overview

What will I study?

During this course you will explore a full range of units including, but not limited to:
  • Prepare for a career in a chosen uniformed service
  • Develop aspects of physical fitness for entry to the uniformed services
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion
Specialist Units will include:
  • Sports coaching
  • Understanding discipline in Uniformed Public Services
  • Carry out map reading and navigation
  • Uniformed services hierarchy and routine
  • Mental and physical wellbeing

What career or further study opportunities will be available after completion?

On successful achievement of this course you may wish to:
  • Apply to study the NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma Public Services which can lead on to the Higher National in Public Services (HNC/HND)
  • Apply to study a Public Services related subject such as Uniformed Services, Criminology or Risk and Emergency Management at University
Pursue career opportunities in the Armed Services, Police, Fire Service, Ambulance Service, Private Security, Prison Service, Coastguard, Customs and Excise or Local Government Administration as this qualification is valued by employers.

What are the entry requirements for this course & what qualifications will I gain upon completion?

For this course you will need to have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade 4 or above, ideally including English and maths, or a Level 2 qualification. A reasonable degree of fitness would also be advantageous. On successful completion of this course you will gain a Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in Public Services qualification. This qualification is equivalent to 1.5 A Levels and can attract a maximum of 84 UCAS points.

How long does it take to finish the course?

This is a full time programme for one academic year.

Throughout your Public Services course, you'll engage with industry professionals through regular guest talks, offering valuable insights to enhance your learning experience. You'll also have opportunities to visit key organisations such as The Middlewich Custody Suite, The Fire Station, Army Look at Life, Army Personal Development Course, Crown Court, as well as attend university and UCAS events (these visits may be subject to change).
