In Public Services, you will cover a variety of key areas, including preparing for a career in a chosen uniformed service, developing aspects of physical fitness for entry to the uniformed services and honing leadership skills.
In Public Services, you will cover a variety of key areas, including preparing for a career in a chosen uniformed service, developing aspects of physical fitness for entry to the uniformed services and honing leadership skills.
You will also delve into equality, diversity, and inclusion, investigate employment opportunities in the uniformed services and develop team working and problem solving skills. The curriculum includes health and safety, health and hygiene and following uniformed service routines. The full curriculum covers a wide range of skills essential for a career in public services and specialist units include carrying out map reading, navigation, survival and undertaking adventurous activities.

Upon completing one of our Public Services courses, you’ll develop a solid understanding of your career options and move on to higher qualifications in the field.
This pathway prepares you for further qualifications needed to become a police officer, firefighter, paramedic or military service member. Additionally, you may choose to advance your education to progress in your chosen uniformed service or transition into roles that significantly contribute to public safety and community wellbeing.

You'll also have opportunities to visit key organisations such as The Middlewich Custody Suite, The Fire Station, Army Look at Life, Army Personal Development Course, Crown Court, as well as attend university and UCAS events (these visits may be subject to change).

Whilst there is no required work placement, you'll gain experience through practical activities and simulated environments that mimic real world public service scenarios. Guest speakers and external training sessions will further enrich your education, deepening your understanding and preparing you for further education and training in the public services sector.
