Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required.

On receipt of your application to study this course, you will be invited to attend an admissions interview with a member of the teaching team to discuss the course and its requirements further. You will be required to present a portfolio of your work at this interview.

Course Content

During the course, you will have an introduction to the Hairdressing sector, learn about the importance of presenting a professional image, working to health and safety policies. You will additionally learn basic hair applications, including shampooing and conditioning, styling and dressing hair using a variety of techniques and also basic colouring applications. You will work on other colleagues within the group, clients and on block heads to practice your skills, develop confidence and technique and support stylists in the commercial salons.

You will also work to improve your current level of English and Maths within your sessions and attend additional taught sessions.

You will be required to purchase a uniform and a hairdressing kit, cost will be advised at the interview.


Assessment

You will be assessed by a range of methods including practical observation, assignments, tasks and external online exams.

Progression

Successful completion of the course can lead to progression onto Level 2 Hairdressing/Beauty therapy or an apprenticeship within the industry.
