Upon successful completion of the course, the learner will:

• Understand basic health and safety risks associated with the workshop and manual lathes,
• Be able to read basic engineering drawings,
• Safety use a manual lathe,
• Use of 3 jaw and 4 jaw chucks,
• Different lathe tools and their uses,
• How to set up the lathe and tooling,
• Use of appropriate measuring equipment,
• Safely and accurately produce a range of engineering components using a manual lathe.
