Designed for those who like a hands-on, practical approach to learning, these courses provide you with the skills and knowledge to progress into a particular industry or occupation. Your vocational course will form part of your larger study programme at the College which will include work experience, tutorial support and English and maths, if necessary. Vocational courses are designed to give you transferable skills, which allow you to progress into a wide range of industries, further study in Higher Education, or a higher apprenticeship.
GCSE English and maths are essential requirements for both
employment and Higher Education. Regardless of your achievement you will work to extend and optimise these core skills. If you hold a grade 4 or higher in either of these subjects, there will be opportunities to extend your numeracy and literacy skills in context. If you don’t have a grade 4 in GCSE English or maths, then you will be enrolled onto either GCSE or Functional Skills qualification to help you improve in these areas. We have an excellent English and maths department that will support you through your course.
We offer a wide variety of courses and levels, starting at the right level means that you can boost your skills and achieve your goals.
Entry Level Courses
This course will allow you to develop the skills and confidence to progress to a wide range of further courses.
Level 1 Course
This type of course provides you with the underpinning skills and knowledge for working within a particular industry or occupation.
Level 2 Course
On this course you build on the skills and knowledge you have gained at Level 1. Once completed, you can achieve a Level 2 level qualification.
Level 3 Course
This course enables you to develop a more in-depth knowledge of your chosen subject. On successful completion you will gain a qualification equivalent
to 3 A Levels.
Higher Education
A number of students progress internally onto Macclesfield Colleges' own HNC and HND courses.
