A full-time job - all Apprentices are employed by a company where they will gain hands-on experience and expertise
Qualification – the apprentice will also study for a qualification at the same time as working. They may come into College once a week or they may study completely in the workplace.
Salary – An apprentice earns a salary. Like any type of job role, the amount of money earned will depend on the employer.
There are a wide range of apprenticeships for you to choose from starting at level 2 all the way up to level 6.
You can complete an apprenticeship in a wide range of sectors including:
Like any type of job role, the amount of money you earn will depend on your employer. The minimum an employer must pay their apprentice is £6.40 per hour, however some employers are willing to pay considerably more for the right person.
The length of an apprenticeship depends on the job you’re doing, your age and how much experience you have, this can vary from 12 months and a day to 4 years.
Apprenticeships can be delivered through a variety of methods including a blend of one-to-one support, online training, College workshops and self-directed study. We will work with you and your employer to develop an individualised learning plan that works for you.
Ideally, apprentices should be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week to ensure steady progress through their apprenticeship. However, working hours can vary depending on individual circumstances.
If you work fewer than 30 hours per week, the duration of your apprenticeship will need to be extended to ensure you meet the required off the job training hours for the standard.
